Cybersquatting is very common on today's internet. I believe that it is ok to put ones opinion, whether it be positive or negative, on the internet. For example with the Verizon company and how someone wrote a website claiming that Verizon sucks, they should be able to have the freedom to make a slandering website, it is protected speech. There is no possible way that Verizon will lose customers from that website. On the other hand, cybersquatting can be dangerous and can really mislead comsumers. For Example, some websites are created to look identical to the company they are copying and that causes the consumer to make a mistake by possibly logging into a website that requires some private information. Once that happens then it is a privacy issue all because of cybersquatting a popular website.
If I was a legislator, each time a website is created it would have to be approved that it is not misleading or deceiving consumers. It would be a long process to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable cases. I would suggest that consumers to just be more careful before entering a website to be sure it is the correct one.
