I believe that Americans should be concerned about losing their jobs to overseas competition because it is happening all the time and there are not enough people in America who are in the field of the IT sector. Since there is a shortagein this field, many American companies have been looking overseas for trained IT workers. It seems as if other countries are training in this field to have more options for these jobs. Also it is a lot cheaper for the company to hire a person from overseas then it is to hire someone in America.
I do not think I will have a problem with overseas hiring with my potential career being in the Culinary industry. I do not think that it could be vulnerable to outsourcing because it is already a broad industry with ties from all over the world and it would be an advantage to work with people from overseas.

Assignment #4
E-waste is a huge issue today because of health hazards, life endangerment, and most of it is sent off to third world countries. Most of the countries that the e-waste is sent to are places like China and Nigeria and usually they do not dispose of the waste correctly; environmentally safe and for human health. The problem is that we seem to always dump our trash somewhere else, somewhere that cannot harm us. But what we are doing is creating problems for other countries. Most of the people are exposed to the toxic chemicals and live in a dangerous lifestyle.
I always try to recycle my old ipods, cell phones and other electronics, but it is difficult to know where it all goes to. I think I can try to reduce this problem of uncertainty by finding a recycling place that will give the information about where it all goes, then maybe that could reduce the environmental impact.

Assignment #3
Cybersquatting is very common on today's internet. I believe that it is ok to put ones opinion, whether it be positive or negative, on the internet. For example with the Verizon company and how someone wrote a website claiming that Verizon sucks, they should be able to have the freedom to make a slandering website, it is protected speech. There is no possible way that Verizon will lose customers from that website. On the other hand, cybersquatting can be dangerous and can really mislead comsumers. For Example, some websites are created to look identical to the company they are copying and that causes the consumer to make a mistake by possibly logging into a website that requires some private information. Once that happens then it is a privacy issue all because of cybersquatting a popular website.
If I was a legislator, each time a website is created it would have to be approved that it is not misleading or deceiving consumers. It would be a long process to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable cases. I would suggest that consumers to just be more careful before entering a website to be sure it is the correct one.

Assignmet #2
Privacy is a huge issue online as well as with any company we choose to have contact with. A lot of companies have my personal information and could leek it out at any time without my knowledge. I normally feel safe giving out this info, however it has been brought to my attention that it could possibly be dangerous. I have given out my social security number to USF, my medical info, etc. Other organizations that have access are department stores online for shopping, magazine subscriptions, airlines, and travel companies. I usually never give any thought when I am giving that particular information. I just automatically feel safe to do so just because I have done it so often.
By giving my information to organizations or businesses, I tend to get a lot of junk mail or emails regarding products I have bought before or that I am interested in. It is not all bad though, sometimes I will get really good deals, sales, or important messages re guarding that product.
A company that I feel comfortable sharing my information with is most importantly USF because I feel that it is safe for a student. They require a lot of personal information and I feel that they will keep your information private. An organization that I do not feel will keep my information private is any online chat rooms or any website that requires personal information where I am not familiar with the site. It is difficult to continue on a website if it requires personal data and usually I will not continue on the website if it does.
